At Tandem, there is more to your job than just work. Nearly 1/3rd of our life is spent earning a living. Work takes up too much of your time not to be FUN. At Tandem we believe work can be fun. Therefore, we sponsor and encourage a number of exciting employee events.

The big event is the Annual Safety Awards Banquet where all company employees, Independent Contractors, and their spouses are recognized for their valuable contributions. We reserve the Big Ten Room at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. This has been a tradition for many years and is a time for food, fun and fellowship. We set up a photo gallery of past years people and events. The food and spirits are fit for a king. We provide music and dancing as well as some homespun entertainment. It has been a tradition to surprise the crowd with a skit created by staff and management that often includes audience participation. The skits range from a creative but somewhat offbeat version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears to an out-of-this-world cabaret featuring the Coneheads. You can be assured that whatever the entertainment, it will be well worth your time.

Weekend Wheels

Misfit (Craig Smith) and his wife Lemondrop (Pat) have been hosting a Memorial Day Weekend party at their home in Northern, MI for a number of years. This event also draws many loyal fans. Golfing, horseshoes, basketball, and great food and spirits make this weekend event one to remember. Seated in God’s country (northern MI), you may encounter a true “back-to-nature” experience. You can mark your calendar every year for good food, family, and fun.

Driver Appreciation Week is another annual event at Tandem. Every year we participate in this nationally recognized event when companies show their appreciation for our nation’s professional drivers. Trucking moves America like no other form of transportation. To get supplies delivered we need trucks and professional truck drivers. To recognize this important service, Tandem sponsors food and gifts for our driving team at each terminal location. You will see office staff and management grilling hot dogs and hamburgers to order with all the fixings. Our drivers and prospective recruits are encouraged to stop by and let us thank them for all their hard work & dedication.

The corporate office in Michigan City also provides more rest and relaxation for our professional driving team. You will find a TV in every bedroom, satellite TV and billiards in the recreational room, plenty of comfortable seating and an atmosphere of fun and excitement. We are located in a natural setting with grand trees, beautiful landscape and a variety of wildlife. It is a picturesque setting in Northwest, IN, only a few miles from Lake Michigan and the scenic Dunes National Park. A number of our drivers come through and shoot a round of golf before heading out to their next load.
